3 Reasons Spanning has Partnered with Mozy by EMC

Just over a month ago, Spanning announced a partnership with Mozy by EMC to jointly market and sell our products to our respective customer bases. We have started to work together on a number of initiatives since that announcement, and we’ve gotten to better understand each other’s businesses. With each passing day, the wisdom of this relationship becomes more and more clear to me. Here are three reasons why I’m excited we’ve moved down this path:

  1. When I talk to our customers and prospects, it is evident that while the move to the cloud, and specifically to Google Workspace, is gaining momentum, on-premise systems are not disappearing. There is a particular need to continue to back up desktop systems, and servers are still deployed as both file and application servers. This is especially true in larger organizations, where the investments in on-premise applications, systems and storage may be significant. Working with Mozy gives us the ability to direct our customers to superior cloud data protection solutions, whether for their cloud or on-premise applications.
  2. Technology resellers are a creative lot and they are outstanding at applying their skills to the latest technology in order to take advantage of new markets. Mozy has built a significant reseller channel by enabling desktop and server resellers to add the latest technology in disk-to-cloud backup. With the advent of cloud computing, Google Workspace has generated a ton of momentum within this same reseller audience, and now they are looking at Spanning to add Google Workspace data protection to their portfolio as well. As we ramp up our own reseller program, we are finding a lot of overlap with the Mozy reseller channel. Again, the ability to present a united front has a great deal of benefit to resellers.
  3. As I’ve gotten to know the Mozy team, it becomes clear that we take a similar approach to addressing our respective markets. First and foremost, we each take our responsibility for our customers’ data very, very seriously. Both companies have best in class applications for data backup and recovery. Both companies have taken the necessary steps to ensure the security of customer data. Beyond this, we have a similar approach to doing business. We tell the truth, do what we say we’ll do, and hold ourselves accountable for meeting our commitments. It’s a pleasure to be working with an organization that sees the world in the same way you do.
