CEO (2013-2018) & Chief Revenue Officer (2012-2013)

Jeff led the Spanning team not just in the ways you’d expect – such as developing strategy, budgeting, and recruiting – but also by enabling great people to do their best work. Prior to being appointed CEO and president in 2013, Jeff was Spanning’s Chief Revenue Officer. Before that, he was the president of Manticore Technology, founding CEO of Deepfile Corporation (became StoredIQ and sold to IBM in 2012), VP of Market Development at Digby, and served as Vignette Corporation’s first VP of Marketing. He started his career with NCR Corporation and also held senior management positions at Compaq Computer Corporation. Away from work, he is a connoisseur of New Orleans jazz and loves cooking with his wife – it’s the perfect blend of planning, creativity, and gadgetry for a technology entrepreneur and CEO. Jeff holds a BA in management science from the University of California at San Diego. He has also served as an adjunct professor of entrepreneurship in the Graduate School of Business at the University of Texas.

You probably can’t help but wonder if you are prepared. […]

Avoiding Healthcare Data Loss in the Age of Ransomware

With the rapid rise of ransomware attacks across industries, including healthcare, it’s not surprising that the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations now require ransomware attacks be reported, given the impact they have on the organizations and clients they serve. Losing data–whether temporarily or permanently–constitutes an unacceptable risk to healthcare organizations and interferes […]

Best Practices for Preventing Data Loss in Education

Do you know who’s protecting your cloud application data? Cloud technology has forever changed how we work. If your cyber insurance vendor offers discounts for companies who meet high data security and protection standards, they will likely focus on these processes and controls. With cybersecurity threats on the rise, companies are increasingly taking advantage of cybersecurity insurance. And while cyber insurance can be worth it, it’ll cost you. Last year, U.S. insurers […]

When Ransomware Strikes: Does Your Company Have a Data Disaster Recovery Plan?

Last year, nearly half of businesses were hit by ransomware. In the first half of 2016 alone, ransomware cost enterprises $209M. Even worse, experts predict that ransomware “will spin out of control” in 2017. Apparent in the headlines, ransomware is rampant and those who commit the attacks aren’t discriminating against any industry, company size, or […]
