PowerShell gives Microsoft 365 administrators the power they need to automate a variety of useful Microsoft 365 tasks — far more than can be done through the admin interface in Microsoft 365.
Many admins know the power of PowerShell, using it to automate tasks such as provisioning users, automating processes, and even finding data they can’t see anywhere else. If you’re an Microsoft 365 admin and are not yet using PowerShell, here’s one good starting point — a blog by Microsoft MVP Paul Cunningham with links to PowerShell learning resources and links to some popular PowerShell scripts.
Because Microsoft 365 admins can do more with PowerShell, we’ve extended the capabilities of Spanning Backup for Microsoft 365 with a Spanning-built PowerShell module* that works in conjunction with our REST API to automate activities in Spanning such as:
- Assigning or unassigning individual and bulk licenses
- Getting key information about an organization’s Spanning tenant
- Getting information needed to manage Spanning users
In the video below, you’ll see a demonstration of PowerShell for Spanning Backup for Microsoft 365 in mass license assignment tasks.
* Please note that Spanning Support does not officially support the Powershell Module.
