Putting our customers first is the cornerstone of everything we do here at Spanning. We’re passionate about simplifying SaaS backup and recovery, making it not only hassle-free but also affordable for our customers. Our relentless pursuit of excellence fuels our drive to create robust, intelligent solutions that are both powerful and user-friendly.
Your peace of mind is our mission, and we’re always innovating to ensure you get the best in SaaS data protection. In our recent quarterly update webinar, we provided a comprehensive overview of our latest product updates and innovations. Here’s a recap of the key highlights from the session.
Exciting updates you may have missed (and a bit of what’s coming soon!)
During the second and early third quarters, we rolled out several significant updates to enhance our SaaS backup and recovery solutions. These updates focused on improving the user experience, enhancing security and expanding our feature set to better meet the needs of our customers. Key deliveries included:
Shared Drives Advanced Backup Flow for Google Workspace
Our latest product enhancements have significantly improved backup speed and onboarding. Now, Shared Drive backups are separate from user drive backups, both in the user interface and on the backend. This change reduces latency and enables faster data transfer and quicker backups. You can also choose to turn specific Shared Drive backups on or off. Additionally, self-service restoration for Shared Drives is now available, empowering end users to restore lost data without IT intervention.
Shared mailbox licensing for Microsoft 365
With the new shared mailbox licensing, you receive one free shared mailbox license for every standard Spanning client license. Spanning automatically backs up all new and existing data for each licensed shared mailbox every day.
For every archived user license, you also get one free shared mailbox archive license. This allows you to keep a shared mailbox’s existing Spanning data but doesn’t create new backups. Archive licenses cost less than standard licenses, helping organizations save money while keeping their mission-critical data safe.
Point-in-time restore and export for Salesforce
Similar to our Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace backups, Spanning Backup for Salesforce now lets you browse point-in-time snapshots of your Salesforce environment. This feature makes it easy to restore or export objects either granularly or at scale.
A peek at what’s coming soon in Q4
We have exciting new features and enhancements lined up for Q4. These innovations are designed to enhance efficiency and security, ensuring you stay ahead in your data protection game.
Automated license assignment for Google Workspace
Automated license assignment will enable IT pros to automatically assign Spanning Backup licenses to users based on their Google Groups and Google Organizational Units memberships. This feature will reduce manual efforts during onboarding, ensuring new users joining the org are seamlessly protected.
Automated license assignment enhancements for Microsoft 365
We’re enhancing the automated license assignment feature in Spanning Backup for Microsoft 365 (currently available using Security Groups). The update will provide greater granularity in licensing automation by allowing exclusions based on group or keyword.
.pst export option for Microsoft 365
We will expand our data export capabilities to offer .pst exports. Soon, you will have two export options — .eml and .pst file formats.
We are improving the experience for our customers using UniView with updates that enhance status syncs, reduce onboarding time for accounts and tenants, and provide greater control over customer and licensing management. For instance, the ability to remove licenses from users directly within UniView.
