Salesforce Trailblazer Community Survey Reveals Ongoing Upward Trends in Skill Growth, Minority Representation
Dreamforce ‘18 is upon us — as is our fifth year of the “Salesforce Selfie” Trailblazer Community Survey (review the survey results for 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2017). Survey findings are shared back into the Community in the form of infographic highlights and reports that can help you benchmark your organization and your Salesforce career compared with peers.
Key Survey Findings
Over the past five years, we have seen the impact of Salesforce embracing and supporting equality in tech. Women consistently make up the majority of Salesforce admins.
Additionally, there’s been significant growth in the number of people from underrepresented groups within the Trailblazer Community.
Over the past five years, admins and developers have been busy increasing their Salesforce knowledge and skills. More are studying for and getting certifications, and earning Trailhead badges.
Unchanged risk for admins and developers
One area we’ve surveyed has not changed much over the past five years. Many admins and developers are still at risk for data and metadata loss.
Don’t wait until you need to restore lost data. Learn from the 65% of survey respondents who have taken steps to protect their data, and review how easy it can be to cut your risk.

Spanning and PepUp Tech
This year, Spanning is making a donation to PepUp Tech for each survey completed. PepUp Tech was founded in 2016 to address access and diversity for underrepresented groups in tech. The more than 500 Surveys completed by #AwesomeAdmins and developers means Spanning is making a sizable donation towards expanding PepUp Tech’s reach and impact.
“Our goal is to inspire individuals who might not think a career in technology is available to them to pursue computer science studies and tech careers,” said PepUp Tech’s founder Selina Suarez.
Thanks to the Salesforce Ohana participating in the Trailblazer Community Survey, PepUp Tech can help more underrepresented people start building their careers in tech.
