Spanning Announces Backup and Restore for Google Sites

Spanning is the Only Backup Vendor to Provide Full Restore Capabilities for All Five Core Google Workspace Components

Austin, TX — October 16, 2012 — Spanning, the makers of Spanning Backup for Google Workspace, today announced Spanning Backup for Google Sites, extending Spanning’s industry leading backup and restore functionality beyond Gmail, Google Drive, Google Calendar and Google Contacts to provide data protection to Google Sites, Google’s web content management capability included in Google Workspace for Business. Spanning is the only backup provider to offer full backup and restore capabilities for all five of the core Google Workspace and is the first to offer cloud-to-cloud backup and restore for Google Sites.

Google Sites is used by businesses large and small for the creation and management of external sites and to support company intranets and Wiki pages. Google Sites enables collaboration and cooperation between workers both within and outside of organizations.

Because Sites are often accessed and edited by multiple people, they are susceptible to mistakes and data errors that can cause the loss of important data. Spanning Backup for Google Sites ensures that changes are automatically sent to a secure, cloud-based backup location on a daily basis. All Sites data is available to be restored should any critical data be lost due to human error during the process of collaboration, or even in the event of malicious action.

“We are excited to add backup capabilities for Google Sites,” said Charlie Wood, founder and CEO of Spanning Cloud Apps. “This capability has been one of the most requested from our customers over the past year, as many Google Workspace users have come to rely on Google Sites as a critical collaboration tool. Just like backup for Gmail and Drive, we have put special attention on the restore process and we are proud to offer the most complete Google Sites backup product on the market.”

Spanning Backup for Google Sites capabilities include:

  • Automated daily or on-demand backup of selected sites
  • Backup site assets, such as web pages and graphics, and all site structure
  • Users can choose which sites to backup at the site level
  • Users can restore entire sites or parts of sites
  • Users can restore sites to a new main site node in order to avoid over-writing good data and to better manage the overall restore process

Spanning Backup for Google Sites is available to all Spanning Backup customers. New customers will have the immediate ability to backup Google Sites when they sign up. Existing Spanning customers can add the capability to their implementation of Spanning Backup with a simple two-step process in their Admin panel.

Google Sites backup is available immediately and is included with all standard Spanning Backup subscriptions.
