Spanning Gives Back Through “

Nonprofits are on the leading edge of cloud technology adoption, attracted by the overall efficiency, collaborative capabilities, mobile support and lower overhead costs that meld seamlessly with the way that a nonprofit runs. In a 2012 survey of 10,000 nonprofits by TechSoup, 90% had adopted cloud technology in some way—from email and file sharing/storage to productivity and CRM applications.

Cloud application use by nonprofits has moved beyond email and video conferencing. Today, using applications such as Salesforce and Google Apps, nonprofits are managing their entire organization, maintaining donor relationships, collaborating on grant proposals, and running volunteer programs – oftentimes, across a globally distributed organization.

The data stored in these applications is crucial to the mission of these organizations. With nonprofits working hard to get the most out of limited resources, a data loss event could be detrimental to fulfilling their mission. This is why nonprofits turn to Spanning for SaaS backup and recovery – so they can operate confidently in the cloud.

I recently spoke to one of our customers, Paul Inboriboon from The Alzheimer’s Association about backup and the cloud. As the director of tech infrastructure, he knows that having backups in place is an IT best practice, not an optional one.  “We should be backing up because we’re ultimately responsible for protecting critical data. There are cases where a user does something that is not covered by Google support…Spanning Backup fully recreates what’s in Google Apps and is intuitive for my IT staff.” Learn more about how The Alzheimer’s Assocation uses Spanning Backup as their trusted SaaS data backup and recovery solution.

I am proud that Spanning has worked with so many nonprofits to protect the work of their missions, and that’s why today, I am excited to announce that we’re expanding that commitment through the Backup for Good program!

Through Backup for Good, qualified nonprofit organizations get five free seats of Spanning Backup for Google Apps, Spanning Backup for Salesforce and Spanning Backup for Office 365 (now available in Beta) for five years along with the standard nonprofit discount of 25% off list. This program will have a significant impact on the thousands of small and growing nonprofits that exist around the world, while allowing larger nonprofits to test Spanning Backup with no financial commitment. Spanning is honored to be able to support them in their missions to help their constituencies.

The Backup for Good program is launching today at EMC World 2015 in Las Vegas. I couldn’t be more thrilled about the support EMC is providing in yet another example of the tremendous synergies between Spanning and EMC.
