Businesses across Australia and New Zealand remain prime targets for cybercriminals, with cyberthreats growing staggeringly in the region. The Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC) reports they received 76,000 cybercrime incidents between July 2021 and June 2022, an increase of 13% from the last financial year. What’s worse? It’s likely only the tip of the iceberg when we consider unreported cybercrimes.
The Australian government has already introduced mandatory reporting regulations for businesses — the Essential Eight — and urged them to implement a minimum level of cybersecurity protection. The New Zealand government has also provided similar recommendations for companies operating in the country. As regulations and obligations around cybersecurity compliance evolve, the onus falls on businesses to comply with them.
This white paper shares findings from a recent survey report by New Foundry, sponsored by Unitrends, where they surveyed over 100 Australian and New Zealand companies with over 250 employees. It gives insights into their states of preparedness for the government’s strict new cybersecurity obligations.
