Spanning by EMC Teams up with Schinnerer and Microsoft to Deliver Cyber Security Protection Solution
No organization – regardless of size – is immune to cyber security-related data loss. Even small to midsized businesses aren’t safe. That’s why we have joined forces with Victor O. Schinnerer & Company, a leading underwriting manager, and Microsoft to provide a comprehensive cyber security protection solution for small to mid-sized businesses. Our solution includes the Schinnerer Cyber Protection Package, Microsoft Office 365, Microsoft Enterprise Mobility Suite and Spanning Backup for Office 365, and is available through our respective channel partners.
As enterprise risk management has become a board level discussion, U.S. enterprises are urgently working to offset their cyber risk – creating a market for cyber insurance. The Betterley Report 2015 estimates the annual policy premiums for cyber insurance is around $2.75B. While cyber insurance policies are a powerful resource, enterprises need a holistic cyber productivity and security protection approach to counteract the dynamic and destructive nature of cybercrime. Our partnership with Microsoft and Schinnerer will provide localized expertise, guidance, and access to a convenient, comprehensive solution to help protect against:
- Digital crime, which helps protect companies from deceptive electronic transfers of funds, telephone toll fraud, and cyber extortion;
- Breach liability, which helps protect against certain lawsuits or demands related to privacy liability, website media liability and regulatory compliance; and,
- Data loss, which is designed to help businesses get back on track in minutes rather than weeks following a business interruption or digital asset loss preventing system downtime, lost productivity and increased costs.
Microsoft Office 365 provides enterprise-grade protection and business continuity without the need for an enterprise-sized IT department. Microsoft Enterprise Mobility Suite (EMS) helps further reduce security risks and enables workers to be more productive with features such as identity and access management, information protection, device and application management and cyber intrusion detection.
While Microsoft Office 365 leads enterprise adoption of SaaS productivity applications, enterprises are still responsible for managing and protecting their data from accidental or malicious behavior. A recent international survey by Spanning shows that external attacks (44%) are a top concern when moving critical business applications to the cloud. The report also identified that 80% of respondents have suffered some type of SaaS data loss and have similar fears related to future cloud data security.
To ensure full protection, the final component of the Cyber Security Protection Solution is Spanning Backup for Office 365 – daily, automated backups of data stored in Office 365 mail, calendars and OneDrive for Business. Our service allows users go back to any point-in-time snapshot and restore lost data from just before a data breach or data loss event occurred. If a company is attacked with ransomware, they could simply ignore the hackers’ demands with a backup with little to no downtime, lost productivity and increased costs.
